Commemorating South Africa’s triumphs as a democratic state, three of the remaining Rivonia Trialists, namely Andrew Mlangeni, Dennis Goldberg, and Ahmed Kathrada, will each receive a prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award at the 13th Annual Oliver Empowerment Awards. This Award recognises the integral part each of these gentleman played in the struggle against apartheid as well as the continued commitment to the bettering of South Africa’s future.
The awards ceremony will take place on 25 April 2014 at Emperors Palace in Johannesburg. Glistening in 1920s jazz-themed attire, finalists, VIP guests, and honorary judges will honor South Africa’s best in business and government transformation.
Furthermore, Minister for the Department of Arts and Culture Paul Mashatile officially launch the 20 Years of Success: Business and Government publication. “Through this, Topco Media recognises and pays tribute to those South Africans in business and government who, through their work, have contributed towards making ours a better country than it was before 1994,” says Mashatile.
Each category will be hotly contested because of the exceptionally high calibre of entrants this year. Award category sponsors include the South African Weather Services,for the Most Transformed Public Sector Award, South African Civil Aviation Authority, for Top Black Female Leader of the Year Award, and Limpopo Economic Development Agency, for Most Transformed Government Department Award.
